Another great insight into the problems people have trying to deal with some of the dynamics that have risen up. Recently, I was thinking about going to the doctor for a persistent issue, but I was asked to do something I didn't feel comfortable with regarding CoVid and now I'm thinking I should cancel the appointment.
Humaness. It can enhance or interfere with care. It takes so much strength and effort not to be dissuaded by either. I always fail. Patients, who, for whatever reason remind me of my dad or husband get a more nurturing side of me. Patients who have or have had substance abuse (which has had a long, painful, negative affect on my life) tend to get a more reserved, detached side of me. I don't like this but I also can't control it. Both types of patients mentioned above get my utmost knowledgable and intensive care because I am a professional.
BTW, I love memantine. I never see it's use in the beginning, but I see when it has done it's job and is no longer viable. It helps keep my patients higher functioning for a longer period of time.
I love listening to your soothing voice. I wish we had more doctors like you here in Los Angeles. It seems that the Geneva pledge got lost on many of the doctors here. I admire your honesty and willingness to address difficult issues with practicality yet with concern. You are top notch!! Judy Orlanski
I agree completely on donepezil. I find that once you explain the negligible benefit and potential side effects most people and families don't want them.
